FUNDRAISING
Our major focus is on fundraising events and they are: Rock’n August (a community event) John Short Charity Golf Tournament (area Cosmo Clubs host this event) Cosmo Tots’ Treasures Curling Funspiel Sale of Dana’s Disease (a book about a 3 year old getting type 1 diabetes} Bingo/Casino Other events decided on during the year
CONVENTIONS
Conventions are held at the Federation and International levels and these provide information, inspiration, skills, and a chance to socialize with people from many areas of the country. It is also a great opportunity to visit different parts of our continent. Attending these events creates friendship in many areas of the country.
COMMUNITY COOPERATION
The area Cosmopolitan clubs, in partnership with the St. Albert Cruisers and the St. Albert Chanber of Commerce, host an annual major fund raising event called Rock’n August. Funds from this event support diabetes research and education. It is a five day long event featuring classic automobiles and lots of entertainment. SOCIALS
There are also social events for members and their guests such as Christmas, a year end party and other events decided on during the year. In the past such things as bowling, pool, a crib tournament, a games night, a wok cooking social (learned how to use a wok and how to vary recipes), and a Brazilian social (ate Brazilian food).
